Hello! I'm Skye, the owner and trainer of Sky High Dog Training. I use positive reinforcement to provide practical solutions for you and your dog. I am an Accredited Dog Trainer through the IAABC, AKC Evaluator, Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI), and am currently working towards my Certified Control Unleashed Instructor (CCUI) certification.
I grew up with two dogs, a pug and a terrier mix, and they gave me the passion for animals I still carry with me today. If anybody asked what I was going to do when I grew up, the answer was always “work with animals”. And here I am, living that dream!
My professional journey started four years ago when I got the opportunity to become a dog trainer with Petco. Petco was incredible for me and it was a bittersweet day when I had to leave due to my health at the time. In December of 2020 I started my own business and here we are!
Over the last four years I have been blessed to work with incredible, highly certified mentors and I am always furthering my education in any way that I can. While I started out with basic to advanced obedience, my current dog shaped what I do now.
Newt is my service dog in training and the light of my life, but he has challenged my skills in many, many ways. He is truly the friendliest dog I have probably ever met, and when he hit adolescence… let’s just say he fits the definition of wild child. He gives 110% into everything he does and wants, so impulse control and healthy coping skills have been our primary focus. I truly cherish everything he has taught me and how he instilled a passion in me for helping people with dogs who are also struggling to cope with their emotions, whether it’s because they are excited, frustrated, or scared. I am particularly passionate about helping people survive the adolescent stage of life because it can take you on a wild, sometimes not-so-fun, ride.
I stand with and support Black, Indigenous, and People of color.
I stand with and support members of the lgbtq+ community, including youth.
